UWEC’s white tiger ‘baptised’
The Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) has ‘baptized’ a male Bengal white tiger ‘Yura’.
Yura and another tiger at UWEC were imported into the country on March 7, 2020 from South Africa in exchange for 25 monkeys before the animal center invited individuals and companies to take up the guardianship role of the two big cats.
Yuti Breweriies Ltd under their flagship beverage brand Yura Beer have now signed an agreement with UWEC that gives them the naming rights for the White Tiger in the Entebbe zoo hence the name ‘YURA’
Yuti Breweriies, in the process contributed UGX 30m towards conservation and animal welfare at Entebbe Zoo.

The panel of judges were impressed by the distinctive, flavorful drink with the perfect balance of sweet blend that achieves smoothness and refreshment that everyone can enjoy. Torrero Liqueur has become somewhat of a cult favorite among Uganda for its highly refreshing taste.
This latest recognition caps a remarkable run of success for Yuti Breweriies, which is Uganda’s freshest distillery with a passion for brewing some of the most pleasurable spirits since 2020, prompting Public Relations Manager Daniel Obwor to describe the business as “arguably the finest in Uganda”.
Torrero to launch smoother version
Torrero Liqueur manufacturer—Yuti Breweriies has sought to unveil a new version dubbed ‘Torrero Wild’ a smoother variant of the popular original Torrero liqueur.
It is the latest addition to the Torrero Family with the company reducing on Alcohol content by upto 5.3% in the new smoother product.
The original Torrero Liqueur which is still available on the market has upto 42.8% of alcohol content while the new version has been reduced to 37.5% but with a smoother and refreshing taste, according to Mr. Cedric Maniala, the Sales & Marketing Manager at the Namanve based—Yuti Breweries Limited.
It is hoped that it will fill a niche with younger drinkers frequenting Kampala pubs and clubs.
